Penn State Women’s Hockey’s Abby Stonehouse Named AHA Forward Of The Week

Penn State women’s hockey alternate captain Abby Stonehouse was named AHA Forward of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Stonehouse was awarded based on her outstanding performance against RIT over the weekend, where she scored four goals over the course of the series, including a hat trick in the team’s 6-0 win on Saturday.

Stonehouse’s hat trick came with many important things to note.

The three goals tied the program’s single-game record, and she scored each of them in different ways.

Stonehouse scored shorthanded, on the power play, and at even strength, which has only been done by AHA players nine times in the past eight seasons.

Stonehouse has racked up seven goals and seven assists for a total of 14 points on the season, which is good for second on the Nittany Lions.

The award marks her first-ever AHA weekly honor.

The No. 7 Nittany Lions will continue their streak of away games when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania, to take on Mercyhurst on November 13 and 14. Game times are set for 6 p.m. on November 13 and 1 p.m. on November 14, both at Mercyhurst Ice Center.
