Penn State Women’s Hockey Remains No. 7 In Latest USCHO Poll

Penn State women’s hockey remained at No. 7 in the latest USCHO rankings, the association announced Monday.

The Nittany Lions stayed put following a weekend where they racked up their sixth and seventh-straight wins in a series sweep over RIT on the road.

The team didn’t allow a goal all weekend, beating the Tigers 1-0 on Friday and crushing them 6-0 on Saturday.

Penn State’s main catalyst was Abby Stonehouse, who scored four goals against RIT, including her first career hat trick on Saturday. Her performance earned her AHA Forward of the Week honors for the first time in her career.

Stonehouse’s 14 total points ranks second on the team behind freshman Sofia Ismael, who has 16. Ismael, Stonehouse, and other stars such as Sophie Morrow, Morgan Stickney, and Grace Outwater have been crucial to the team’s success as of late.

Penn State will look to extend its win streak when the team travels to play Mercyhurst on November 13 and 14. Both games will be played at Mercyhurst Ice Center at 6 p.m. on November 13 and 1 p.m. on November 14.
