[Photo Story] Penn Staters Cast Their Votes On Election Day

On Tuesday, Penn State students headed to polling locations around State College to cast their votes alongside millions of Americans on Election Day.
Polls opened at 7 p.m., including the polling center in the HUB’s Alumni Hall. Plenty of student organizations set up right outside the polls, encouraging students to make their voices heard and cast their votes in this year’s midterms.
As always, our photographers were on site to capture all that happened during Election Day at Penn State.

Stickers and flyers filled tables across the HUB’s first and second floors for students to pick up after voting.
For many students, it was their first time voting. Volunteers and representatives made sure students understood how to take action and exercise their right to vote.

The election featured Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial race, in which incumbent Gov. Josh Shapiro faced state Treasurer Stacy Garrity. The election was called quickly as Shapiro won in a landslide.
The ballot also included the race for Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District. Democratic challenger Ray Bilger showed up to the HUB to speak with students and representatives on both sides of the aisle throughout the day.

With restrictions on political campaign signage near polling areas, voter outreach tables provided campaign materials and other important voting information.
