Penn State wrestling managed to hold off Ohio State and win its seventh national title in eight years.

The Nittany Lions rattled off five consecutive wins in the semifinals, scoring bonus points in two of them, and benefitted from a 2-4 performance by the Buckeyes to take a 120.5-109.5 lead in a two-horse team race after two days.

Zain Retherford, Jason Nolf, Vincenzo Joseph, Mark Hall, and Bo Nickal all advanced to the semifinals with wins, while Shakur Rasheed and Nick Nevills each lost leads off of reversals during the third period.

The Nittany Lions were 7-0 in the championship bracket and won both of their consolation bouts, bringing their team total to 28.5 points.

The team's 7-2 performance Thursday afternoon totaled 16.0 points for Penn State, which sits in third-place in the team race.
