The State Theatre is the least likely place for fans to get up out of their seats and shake what their mommas gave them, but on Wednesday night, Sound Tribe Sector 9 was serving up raver specials on the house.
The Machine, a Pink Floyd cover band, surprised audience members with incredibly accurate renditions of the prog rock band’s music. Not only did the band play famous hits like “Breathe” and “Time,” but they also chose obscure, less popular songs to put on their setlist such as “Interstellar Overdrive” and “Mother.”
America’s top Pink Floyd cover band, The Machine, will be playing at the State Theatre tonight at 8 p.m. The Machine, which has been touring since 1988, has been complimented by magazines like Spin, which gave the ultimate compliment a cover band can receive--saying The Machine “sounds exactly like Pink Floyd.” The performance will consist of incredible lights and effects as well as the great music of Pink Floyd. Tickets are still on sale at the State Theatre ranging from $29-$39.
No, George Romero wasn't directing a new film in State College, but the State Theatre was filled Wednesday night with nearly 200 gray haired hippies--as well as a few intrepid students--to see the Zombies, and their opening guests, the Strawbs. These two English bands are true nostalgia from the '60s, and proved that their music sounds just as incredible live as it does when played on vinyl.
