Penn State Mythbusters: GSpan’s Jet

For years, I've been hearing people mention that the University owns a private jet that Graham Spanier can use to fly to Harrisburg and other locations for university business. Most of the time it's mentioned in jest, with the the joke that the plane is used for extravagant trips for upper-level university officials. But nobody's ever been too upset about that concept of the university owning a private jet.

Penguins, Flyers Begin Quest For Stanley Cup

In a recurring development that never gets old, the NHL playoffs begin on Wednesday night meaning that Pittsburgh and Philadelphia fans will have the right to be as obnoxious as ever as the Penguins and Flyers both are in contention to lift Lord Stanley's Cup. Find out about their first-round matchups after the jump.

Speed Theatre: Two Plays in an Hour

After embarrassing myself inside the women's restroom, in which a kind young lady informed me I was located, I found my seat in 102 Forum. I went in not knowing what to expect, and I left unsure of what I had witnessed. I wasn't confused. At no point during One Stage Revolution's student-directed one act plays was there a misunderstanding. I was unsure of what meaning to take from the plays due to their demand for critical thinking, and that's why I enjoyed them.

Penn State Men’s Volleyball Dominates Ohio State

The collegiate men's volleyball landscape is quite different than most other college sports. There are only a few schools that compete, and there are only three major conferences that earn tournament berths. Only four schools play in the NCAA Tournament, and other than the three automatic berths, the fourth spot almost always goes to a western university. Because of this, the regular season does not have the same meaning for the Penn State men's volleyball team that it does for other sports. Last Sunday, the Nittany Lions took on Ohio State, and the feeling in Rec Hall was different--this match mattered.

The Sierra Club Moshannon Group is sponsoring the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour's trip to State College. Student tickets are $12 and can be bought at The State Theatre or at Appalachian Outdoors.

Onward State Attends NYU Local’s #YMW

With the rumbling sound of the subway and the smell of dirty-water hot dogs filling the air, it was clear the Onward State crew wasn't in State College anymore. In fact we were over 200 miles away in the city that never sleeps, New York, for NYULocal's Young Media Weekend. The event was a focused discussion lead by 8 bloggers/panelists about new media and its effect on the changing world of journalism.
