The Penn State women's basketball team could not overcome a poor first half and turnover issues in its 79-69 loss to Purdue on Thursday night. A strong second-half rally was not enough, and the Lady Lions suffered their fifth defeat of the year.
After breaking the record for most 3-pointers made by a freshman on Sunday against Illinois, Maggie Lucas was held in check by the Purdue defense. Lucas made three 3-pointers, but only 13 points--well below her season average of 16.8 percent. Alex Bentley led the Lady Lions with 14 points, while Julia Trogele and Gray each contributed 12.
With the loss, Penn State falls to 15-5 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten. Next up for the Lady Lions is a home match against Indiana on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Joining a sorority was never on my list of things to do. The intensity of formal recruitment intimidated me and the number of chapters on campus was terrifying. Three years later, I can't imagine life without my sorority. Hopefully I can encourage you to check out some of the smaller, lesser known Greek organizations on campus - one of which I'm actually a sister of.

Last night's University Park Undergraduate Association was a tough one to sit through. The end result of it was productive but we should have been out of there a lot sooner. As a constituent who can vote (as most of you probably can too), it was frustrating to see my elected representatives bickering over minute, largely irrelevant details rather than putting the appropriate focus on crucial aspects of the issues.
Let me say before I begin: a lot of good things came out of this meeting, but the way the Assembly looked at them, the spirit of conducting business, was far less than ideal—there was way too much emphasis on politics in itself, red tape, and bureaucracy.
