Such was the central topic of discussion last night at the Schreyer Honors College's Shaping the Future Summit, which featured a keynote address from President Eric Barron.
Following in the footsteps of the University of Chicago, Penn State decided it will not continue to host a Confucius Institute for Chinese studies after Dec. 2014. The controversial program will close due to differing goals between Penn State's College of Liberal Arts and the Hanban, an affiliate of the Chinese Ministry of Education and division that oversees the institute.
