Another attempt to reform the Penn State Board of Trustees is now in the works, this time in legislation proposed by state Sen. John Yudichak.

"The Paternos were on a first-name basis with everyone in town -- Joe even knew the cheerleaders' names. They built a library -- giving $3 million of their own money," McKenna said. "Their love and generosity inspires me as I raise my three children. Because that's what life is all about, isn't it?"

Penn State has created a health care task force to assess the best alternatives to reducing the cost of employee coverage.

State Sen. John Yudichak, a Democrat representing Luzerne, Carbon and Monroe counties, and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Jake Corman, a Republican representing Centre county, will host a news conference addressing the need for governance reform of the Penn State Board of Trustees.

A trailer for a film about Betsy Aardsma, the student murdered in the stacks of Pattee Library, was released. The State Theatre will screen the film on January 19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and students.

Nestled between Burrowes and Atherton Street, the west campus steam/power plant (WCSP) has had a relatively quiet existence. And that’s not to diminish the impact the plant has on the community – it provides Penn State with 5% of the campus’s total electricity (on average) and heats the dorms and buildings during the winter. But for all its contributions to campus, the WCSP seems to be the forgotten story of Penn State.
