
About 20 trustees did indeed meet this morning at the Nittany Lion Inn -- and several others attended via conference call -- although none would offer comment on the contents of the meeting on the way out the door to the four waiting reporters. Penn State released a nonspecific statement soon after, saying that the trustees needed more time to look at candidates and offering no timetable for a selection.

For the first time in quite a few weeks, UPUA was in complete agreement about all new business at its general assembly meeting last night. The meeting was quick, everything passed unanimously, and everyone was free to move on to their respective Halloween celebrations.

There are 24 campuses in the Penn State system. The one that gets the most attention is University Park, but what about the other 23? 11 Penn State students and five faculty members were awarded Fulbrights for 2013-2014. This is a pretty big deal, considering that 45 former Fulbrighters have won the Nobel Prize, 28 have been awarded MacArthur Fellowships, 80 have won Pulitzers, and 29 have served as heads of state or government.
