10 Questions with SPA Exec. Director Maggie Eason

If there's one group on campus that everyone benefits from at least once during their time at Penn State it's the Student Programming Association -- or SPA for short. The student-run group controls about 25 percent of the student activity fee and uses it to bring in big name concerts and speakers during the year for all of Penn State to enjoy for free. We recently caught up with the woman in charge, Maggie Eason, to see what it's like being the SPA Executive Director.

UPUA Goes Casual

Rather than the ill-fitting suits and wrinkled collars that usually fill up 302 HUB every Wednesday night, the UPUA dropped the business from business casual and met for a special meeting called Committee of the Whole. COWs, as such meetings are aptly called, are used for UPUA to discuss various issued in a less structured, non-official way when there is no new business for the week.

Penn State Parents Program: Calling All PTA Moms

The Penn State Parents Program (a.k.a "Fancy PTA") is currently accepting applications from parents of first-year, transfer, and change-of-campus students. Parents will meet twice a year to speak with the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Vice President and Dean for Undergrad Education, and the Parents Program Director. Parents will also have the opportunity to share ideas and offer input to the program's board.
