Penn State Alum Munchak Named Coach Of Titans

It seems as though former Nittany Lions are the pick for head coaching positions this year. Tom Bradley was courted by UConn, Temple and Pittsburgh, Al Golden left Temple to become the new coach at Miami and Paul Pasqualoni ended up being named the new coach at Connecticut. Penn State can now add one more alum to the list of football head coaches, although this newly hired coach has made it to the big stage.

Nike Donates $400k to Libraries

In between designing this year’s coolest football or basketball uniforms and supplying Oregon with ridiculous athletic facilities, Nike has managed to make an impact on the academic side of college athletics too. A gift of $400,000 from Nike Inc. to Penn State University Libraries was announced on Monday in honor of Coach Paterno's 400th win.

JayPa: Member Of Witness Protection?

UPDATE- 1/28/11 at 11:30 AM: Jay Paterno has contacted Onward State with this statement:

I have had this account for family stuff. I don't want family pics and family posts going all over the place. The other facebook page is for recruiting and public stuff. I have two pages.

Onward State has unlinked to Paterno's private page and hopes that you respect his wishes for privacy.

Jay Paterno may very well be the most social media savvy member of the Penn State community outside of the student body. He writes for StateCollege.com and keeps up a pretty decent Twitter account. He's even on The Facebook, as father JoePa might call. It just got a bit harder to find him on that last one though.

Sometime this week, JayPa changed his name to Al Smith. Why would he do such a thing?

While Joe Paterno has earned many accolades for his work on the football field, his many accomplishments off the field over the past sixty years have not gone unnoticed. He was honored again on Thursday night in San Antonio when he received the Gerald R. Ford Award at the annual NCAA convention. The Ford Award honors an individual who has provided significant leadership as an advocate for intercollegiate athletics on a continuous basis throughout his or her career.

Quarterbacks Bolden, Newsome to Stay for Now

It has been a roller coster of a ride for two Penn State quarterbacks since the final regular season game against Michigan State, but it appears Rob Bolden and Kevin Newsome will both be back in blue and white for spring practices. But what happens beyond then remains unclear.
