THON 2011: New Rules, New Game

“THON is a philanthropic event, not a competition, and all money raised is for the aid of the children and their families.” This is a line from the recently released THON 2011 Rulebook, which, with its new rules, clearly makes sure you know that THON is not about the points or winning. Be A Part From the Start Introduces Freshmen to PSU

For the first time in the fall semester, Rec Hall was filled to capacity with a loud and boisterous crowd. Four Diamonds Video Explains Roots

The word THON has left the lips of nearly every single Penn State student at least once for the past 37 years. But what if you were to ask how it got started, or what exactly the Four Diamonds represent--would they know?

Recently, Onward State got a hold of a new video vignette released by The Four Diamonds Fund. The video, featuring Four Diamonds visionaries Charles and Irma Millard, Tucker Haas, and countless other Four Diamond Families, explains the roots of The Four Diamonds Fund and THON.

Become a Captain for THON 2011

It seems like just yesterday that the final total was raised on stage at the end of THON 2010, but the largest student-run philanthropy in the world moves quickly. Applications for select Captain positions have been posted on THON.org this week. THON Captains are in charge of the various projects and events that take place throughout the year and during THON weekend. They report directly to the Overall Committee and many of them oversee committees of their own.
