We all know what everybody REALLY comes to the football games for. It’s not the team, PJ, DC, or the NL. It’s the BB’s performances (PJ Maierhofer, Daryll Clark, Nittany Lion, and the Blue Band for those of you slow at acronyms). With 4 dancers, the Blue Band shows its spirit just as much at THON, and I was able to sit down with Moira Davies, the Blue Band THON captain.

Wednesday’s frigid Blue Band rehearsal near Beaver Stadium ended just a little bit differently than most Blue Band rehearsals. The Blue Band’s faculty staff and student leadership received whipped cream and cherries directly to the face.
Why, you ask? Not in the name of science, but in the name of THON.
During the first week of October, the Blue Band THON group ran a “coin wars” fundraiser. Every rank of the Blue Band, consisting of around 16 people each, brought spare change to practice. An intense competition ensued as each rank fought to be the top-donating rank.
The total at the end of …
The Blue Band’s halftime show at the Eastern Illinois game was nothing short of epic. The Stadium reveled in the exciting music and field animations with themes from Rocky, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Superman and Batman.
I managed to find a video of the performance that spans the entire show and that is taken from a high vantage point. Please enjoy below:

Being a member of the Blue Band, I was able to witness firsthand the production quality that went into the documentary.

Sometimes, you just need to speak your mind. Today we have Steve Garguilo asking students to leave their marshmallows at home this Saturday.
You won’t find a Penn State fan with more respect for tradition than me, and I know that a large part of that on football Saturdays is the pride, commitment, creativity, and certainly the volume of the student section. However, this idea of bringing marshmallows to the football games being a tradition is erroneous, and is a practice that died for a reason.
I have no doubt that the creators of the Facebook group urging students to bring marshmallows …

Michael Jackson died this afternoon after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Holmby Hills. TMZ has the rough-draft of his obituary up already… Twitter has the rest.
Our tribute is a little more animated though. We found this video from 1998 of the Penn State Blue Band lip dubbing ‘Thriller.’
