Irving’s and the Twitter Special

A little over a week ago, Irving’s became the first business (that we know of) in State College to offer a special deal to its Twitter followers.

We thought the special was interesting– and delicious– so we visited Irving’s a few days ago to talk to owner Marya Schoenholtz about the promotion.

Irving’s isn’t the only business to use social media in State College. Check out this Collegian article for a few more examples (though most of them are only on Facebook and MySpace).

Penn State and the Process of Life

American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
