Fall Photo Contest Preview

While the Onward State Staff deliberates on the winner of the Fall photo contest, we thought we’d post the entries. Please let us know in the comments which pictures you like best and why. We have a ton of really strong entries for the competition. The captions underneath each photo are what the photographer wrote in their submission email.

The photos that follow have only been modified in terms of size by Onward State so that the photos fit well on the site. No other editing has been performed. Photos that did not meet the criteria of the contest were not included.

Hit the jump to see the current entries!

Remember: The Photo Contest is still open until 11:59 PM TONIGHT. Click here for contest rules and guidelines.

Photo by Whitney Marquille Re. Sent in by her mother. "My freshman daughter, (WhitneyMarquilleRe@psu.edu), was so excited with the first snowfall this year at University Park Campus. She took the pic on her cell and passed it on to all her family members in southern PA. The students were scarce that day… wonder why… J It’s certainly a beautiful picture capturing the peacefulness and purity of that first snowfall, a taste of what’s to come as the season progresses."

Photo by Liz Remus. "I took this photo on my iPhone upstairs in Henderson South overlooking the Hub Lawn. I used the app Jot to crop it. I choose this photo to capture the Penn State spirit because of the gorgeous colors. The grass is still green and inviting and yet the weather is still warm enough to take a nap or throw a ball. The orange and red cherry trees are full of fruit reminding me that we are so lucky here in Happy Valley while still capturing the fall colors."

Question of the Day: Sweet Mobile Apps

AT&T is sponsoring a pretty cool competition in which entrants can win $10,000 cash in scholarship money for creating a mobile device application. Teams of up to four people can enter a custom-built application for the purpose of e-learning.  The rules state that the “innovating e-learning mobile app” should be functional across multiple platforms. Submissions are due by September 15, 2010 and so far there are only ten teams signed up. So my question for you is:

If you could develop a mobile device application, what would it do?
