Passion Pit Delivers A Perfect Finale To Movin’ On 2015

After Big Sean’s unforgettable performance, the Movin’ On crowd was absolutely pumped. However, everyone was also clearly growing tired. The audience was so insane that pushing and shoving grew to an extreme, borderline mosh-pit. Security had to yell at the audience multiple times, attempting to simmer down the amped and aggressive students. But hey, I guess that’s what happens when you mix Big Sean with college kids on a Friday night, right?

Many students, such as myself, were jamming to the amazing artists since early in the day, so you can bet we were ready to see the final act. My feet hurt and I was sick of being elbowed in the ribs. I was ready for Passion Pit to put on an incredible performance, and they certainly delivered.

By the time we were ready to jam to the indietronica tunes, the sun had set. The crowd, (finally calming the hell down) grew silent with anticipation. Fog flooded the stage again and the members took their positions. Lead singer Michael Angelakos grabbed the mic, sauntered to the front of the stage, and the students immediately cheered and screamed. Flashing lights of all colors accompanied the fog. When paired with the perfect warm spring temperature, this served as the ideal atmosphere for the phenomenal final act.

The band opened with “Little Secrets,” a crowd-pleasing single. Before I knew it, I forgot how tired I was and found myself dancing and swaying along with the excited crowd. Following this opening song was a single from their new album Kindred, “Lifted Up.” Though this song isn’t nearly as old and beloved as “Little Secrets” or “Sleepyhead,” the crowd adored it all the same, nodding their heads and enjoying themselves.

Passion Pit offered a wide variety of both their new and older stuff, which was the perfect array of tunes for a loyal fan such as myself. The band went from classics from their album, “Gossamer” like “Constant Conversations” and “Carried Away,” to great new songs like “Until We Can’t (Let’s Go)”

The band absolutely nailed it — their infectiously catchy sound and rhythm affecting even the most sleepy students. Passion Pit closed with their most popular song, “Take a Walk,” and I couldn’t find one student in the crowd not dancing and swaying their arms along with the catchy beat.

Overall, Passion Pit was without a doubt the perfect closing act to an incredible music concert. The other bands that rocked the main stage were incredibleas well. New Politics didn’t disappoint with their unique sound and lead singer’s notable dance moves, Big Gigantic kept the party going with some EDM-esque beats, and Big Sean brought some real fire and energy without a doubt. However, Passion Pit really brought it all home and delivered those classic, catchy, universally-adored tunes that the entire crowd truly loved.

Well, until next time. Hopefully next year’s lineup can compare to this one’s. But until your amazing summer starts, good luck on finals. Movin’ On served as the ideal trailer for what will hopefully be an incredible, relaxing, and well-deserved summer for all of us.
