Fourth is the Spot For Penn State XC

Fourth place was the spot to be for the Penn State Cross Country program over the weekend, as both the men’s and women’s teams finished with 4th place showings at the Big 10 Championships.

Both squads were led by a pair of All Conference selections and top 10 finishes.  On the men’s side Junior Kyle Dawson finished 8th place overall with a time of 23:53 over the 8k course followed by classmate Vince McNally, with a solid 13th place showing to earn All Conference Honors.

The men, ranked 24th in the country, finished the day with 128 total points, while the #6 ranked Wisconsin Badgers won their incredible 12th straight Big 10 title with an impressive 26 points.  Wisconsin finished with 4 runners in the top 6 of the race.

The women were led by a pair of sophomores, Brooklyne Ridder, who finished a strong 9th overall and teammate Natalie Bower, who was another all conference selection with a 14th place finish.  As a team they totaled 106 total points, with Michigan State taking the top spot with 76.

The teams are back home one more time for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at the Blue and White Course on Nov. 13th at 10 a.m. before they head out to Indiana for the NCAA Championships Nov. 22nd.
