Wrestlers Look to Bounce Back in Big Ten

The life of a Big Ten wrestler is no walk in the park. It is more like a walk through a continuous briar patch with the eight other teams ranked in the top 25 of the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll. For Penn State, this week’s thorns are Michigan State and No. 13 Michigan.

Coming off their first defeat of the season, the Nittany Lions are heading west to square off against the Spartans Friday night. Then, for a rematch, Penn State will head to Ann Arbor for Sunday’s dual meet against the ranked Wolverines.

Fresh off that 22-13 loss to Iowa last Sunday, the Nittany Lions are hungry to return to their winning ways.

Penn State Women’s Basketball Wins Big in Michigan

A strong team effort on both offense and defense let to an 81-63 victory over Michigan on Thursday for the Penn State women's basketball team. Maggie Lucas led the way offensively with 23 points on 56 percent shooting.

With the win, Penn State improves to 19-5 overall and 8-2 in the Big Ten. The Lady Lions are now first in the Big Ten, half a game ahead of Michigan State. Next up for Penn State is #22 Iowa. The game with the Hawkeyes will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Penn State to Learn More with NBC Learn

Acting much like a new-aged microfilm lab, a partnership between NBC and Penn State offers faculty and students access to a plethora of historic newsreels.
The pilot site, NBC Learn, hosts broadcasts and educational shorts from more than 75 years of air time. Anyone with a valid Penn State ID can browse videos in a collection of academic categories. The 26 browseable sub-sections mimic a list of majors, grouping videos according to academic content.

What the Hell is Frog Ball?

We here at Onward State have recently become aware of an activity going on at this very campus known as Frog Ball.

Surprisingly, it has nothing to do with hanging out with an angsty teenage Kermit, playing old school video games, or licking poison dart frogs. It is actually much more beneficial than any of those activities.

Frog Ball is one of the newest official clubs at University Park. Many questions come to mind: Where did it come from? How do you play? Will Ohio State invent Toad Ball in a fit of jealous rage? Read on and your curiosity will be done away with.
