Sweet! We’re Hosting a Tweet-Up!

OnwardState.com and StateCollege.com are pleased to announce the sweetest tweet-up to hit State College since last spring’s romp on the Hintz Alumni Center lawn.

This Thursday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm– scheduled to fit the post-grind commute– your two favorite local Twitter outlets will be holding a tweet-up in Campus Candy at 346 E. College Ave.

The tweet-up will be hosted by our lovable bunch of bloggers (@OnwardState if you don’t follow us already!) and the charming @SCNewsDesk, senior editor for @StateCollegeCom. This is the perfect opportunity to put a name to the faces you’ve come to love, and we’re looking forward to connecting with our readers offline.

The event will be very low-key. No need to dress up– though we are partial to Green Man costumes. Just come out and meet other members of the Penn State Twitterati! We’ll have nametags and markers available so you can show off your handle, and we’re hoping to have a few special guests stop by… though from the #PABudget to the UPUA elections, there will be no shortage of news to discuss!

Campus Candy is sponsoring the event with free candy or froyo to the first 100 guests! There will also be a very generous 30% discount offered to tweet-up attendees for the duration of the event. Be sure to follow @CampusCandy– definitely the sweetest candy shop downtown.

This is just the first of many events that we hope to hold as part of our new strategic partnership with StateCollege.com, so stay tuned!

Penn State and the Process of Life

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
