My Senior Year Wish List

Okay, seniors. In a few days, it’s the beginning of the end for us at Penn State. We’ve had a hell of a run, and now it’s time to go out with a bang. With that in mind, here’s what I think would make for a perfect senior year.

A Big Ten Championship for Penn State football.

As freshmen during the 2008 football season that brought us a Big Ten Championship and Rose Bowl berth, we didn’t know what we had.

Penn State began that season 9-0, including exciting home victories against Illinois and Michigan and a victory in Columbus (and ensuing riot) that we will tell our grandkids about. We thought, “It’s always like this, right?”

Well, no, it isn’t. However, wouldn’t it be awesome to go out the same way we came in? I’m thinking a 12-2 season and a Big Ten Championship would be a great way to wrap up our time as a part of the best student section in the country.

A full student section at kickoff for Alabama and Nebraska.

I’m not asking for a lot here, people. If you choose to come late to any other game, I’m not going to judge you. However, for two of the biggest games in recent Beaver Stadium history, get your asses into the stadium well before kickoff. Or even a week before kickoff.

A THON total of over $10 million.

Last year’s jump put $10 million in reach for THON 2012, and crossing into eight-figure territory would be an amazing accomplishment FTK. Write those THONvelopes and take to the streets on canning weekends, we can make this happen!

One really, really good concert.

Full disclosure: I am not really a “music guy”, but I know what I like. Jay-Z’s performance at the BJC in October of 2009 will be tough to top (for me), but I have my fingers crossed that Penn State will host a concert of that caliber this year.

Ya hear that, Jay-Z and Kanye?

A safe and fun State Patty’s Day.

For better or worse, State Patty’s Day has become a part of the Penn State experience. I do not condone the idiocy displayed by some (many of whom are from out of town) during this “holiday”, but I also think it’s a fun day for a lot of people and can remain so.

A snow day.

A guy can dream, right?

At least one PA sports team winning a championship.

I say this because two of my teams (the Eagles and Phillies) should be contending for one, but even if it’s the Steelers, Happy Valley is always a little more interesting during a playoff run.

With that being said, I really, really hope it’s a Philly team.

So that’s my senior year wish list. Leave a comment with what else you think should be on it!
