An Invitation to Tonight’s Candlelight Vigil

As you may have heard, there will be a candlelight vigil on the steps of Old Main tonight at 9:30 to rally support for the victims of Jerry Sandusky’s abuse.  This event was organized to show support for the abused children; it is our opportunity as students at Penn State to show the world that we understand the gravity of this situation.  The world’s attention has not left Old Main, let us take this opportunity to show the world what it means to be a member of the Penn State community.

As Penn Staters, we must rally together to show support for boys victimized. This scandal has done Penn State’s reputation of honor and respect no favors.  Certainly, our student body lost credibility when that WTAJ news van was put on its side Wednesday night.  Let us take this opportunity to replace that image with one of Penn State students singing the alma mater and standing in solidarity for the victims.

On a more practical note, make sure that you get a candle before heading to Old Main at 9:30.  Uncle Eli’s on Beaver Ave (next to Rita’s) has 50% off all their candles today.  CVS and McLanahan’s are also safe bets.  Try to buy your candles early today so you’re not stuck holding a birthday candle in the shape of a number.

The student organizers of this candle light vigil and Onward State both hope to see you there.  Here’s the link to the Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/rCdOj8
