Movin’ On 2012 Line-up Announced

Movin’ On organizers released the official 2012 lineup today. This year’s headliners will be:

The music festival, which will take place on April 27, will also feature a major act that has yet to be announced. Movin’ On will once again take place at IM Field West, near Beaver Stadium.

This year’s lineup is miles above any that seniors can remember. The Avett Brothers are sure to make up for the painful memories of The Spill Canvas and Less Than Jake, acts that were talented in their own right but clearly not big enough names (or in LTJ’s case, not big enough since we were all in middle school) to be headlining our spring festival. Unfortunately Luda isn’t exactly a hot, fresh new act, but he should still prove to be a popular choice. Opening rockers Young the Giant are clearly rising stars in the music industry that should get students excited. Admittedly, I don’t know much about the David Mayfield Parade, but according to Mayfield’s website, he is a friend of the Avett Brothers and an up-and-coming country musician.

You can check out a Spotify playlist of music from this year’s headliners here.

Switch the Right Decision

I’m probably the only person who has spent my entire college career almost evenly divided between working for The Daily Collegian and Onward State. I feel like this has given me a unique perspective on Penn State’s media scene. And I’ve learned a great deal from both media outlets.
