Distraction of the Day: Tumblr Page is a Big Hit

Dedicated Penn State students don’t just show PSU love at Beaver Stadium, the BJC, and Old Main. Our school pride runs deeper than that; blue and white has spilled over into our everyday lives on—that’s right—the interwebz. From dorms, apartments, computer labs, and smartphones all over campus, our massive student body is constantly immersing itself in everything State-related it can find.

We all follow, favorite, and retweet @PennStateProbz on Twitter. And of course, we all share our favorite Penn State Memes on Facebook. But alas, there’s a glorious new distraction with which to procrastinate your nights away: meet the Tumblr page that Penn Staters shall forever reblog, That’s So State.

Each post offers a potential situation Penn State students could be put in (for example, “Finding out there’s free Rita’s at the Business Building”) followed by a responsive GIF (here, a scene in “Ace Ventura” where Jim Carrey dances like a happy maniac in a tutu).

So many other situations present themselves (“When someone asks to buy tickets for Blue-White Weekend,” “Riding the White Loop home on a Friday night,” “When you find yourself stranded after a daylong,” and more) and the GIFs perfectly capture the essence of whatever emotion a Penn Stater would feel in response. Do yourself a favor and check it out; that online assignment can wait a few more hours, right?

Simply put: I would not be the person who I am today without the influence of this university, and I will be forever grateful for that. “Thou didst mold us, dear old State” has never felt truer.
