SNL Fails to Be Funny Once Again
Last month SNL released a video entitled, “Gilette Masters of Style,” where once again Jason Sudeikis decided to mock the Jerry Sandusky situation. The short one-minute spoof commercial proves to be completely random, pointless, and just simply not funny.
The feeling received after the clip ends is thorough confusion. Why does it seem relevant to include Sandusky in a commercial about a men’s razor? Sandusky is a horrible human being who has ruined the lives of numerous children and families. I’m not sure why SNL feels like they have to use a convicted child molester in their material to make it funny, especially when his appearance is completely unrelated and irrelevant.
I love the randomness of SNL and SNL in general, but when the writers of the show think it’s comical to get viewers to laugh at a rapist it definitely deteriorates the credibility of the show. If shock-value is what the clip was going for, it ultimately failed.
According to a SNL recap of the show, the crowd didn’t get the point of the ad either and were apparently not on board based on the audible sighs. Also, the rating was a meager 2 out of 5 stars.
Hopefully this is the last SNL parody that attempts to align humor with Jerry Sandusky. The video crosses the line and is lame to begin with. There is plenty of other material out there to parody and a sex abuse is not part of it.
