Most Obscure Places to Take Your Grad Photos

Tired of sitting in line for the traditional run-of-the-mill places to take your grad photos? The Lion Shrine, Old Main, and the Penn State sign are all classic-yet-cliché locations to sport that cap and gown. We did a series last year of “The Worst Places to Take Your Grad Photos,” and they were so bad, we decided to follow up with another series this year: our best hipster effort at the most obscure places to take grad photos.

Climbing the Obelisk

This could very quickly turn into an upskirt mishap if you’re not careful.

Is he graduating too? Do they make XXXXL mortarboards?

While we can’t officially condone pregaming the ceremony…you know what, just do it. It’s the only way you’re going to make it through listening to names read in alphabetical order. But you didn’t hear that from us.

The McLanahan’s Lion Shrine

Don’t want to wait in line for hours at the Lion Shrine? McLanahan’s has you covered.

If you can’t get a reservation at the Nittany Lion Inn, take your family here for dinner, for a cheaper al fresco alternative.

Would be remiss if you didn’t capture everyone’s favorite inconveniently placed rock on campus.

Grad CVS

Everyone’s just trying to look like they’re not buying pong balls and mixers.

Just try it.

Mike the Mailman

An awesome picture with the best human being on the face of the earth. If you missed out on this, don’t fret. You know where to find Mike Herr.

Have you seen any other unconventional graduation picture locations? Where were they?
