The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings are out, and several Penn State programs are on the rise. The leading authority in educational rankings put 14 Penn State graduate programs among the top 10 in the country, and the Penn State Dickinson Law School also saw a 13 spot jump from last year.

Two Penn State programs — geology and technical/vocational education — came in as the best in the nation. Environmental sciences and geochemistry came in at No. 2; higher education administration at No. 3; nuclear engineering No. 5; earth sciences and supply chain/logistics No. 6; administration and supervision No. 7; and education policy No. 9.

Per Penn State, previously ranked disciplines in the top 10 include rehabilitation counseling at No. 4; criminology at No. 5; sociology of population at No. 6; and developmental psychology at No 5. These areas were not re-ranked this year.

The best news probably comes from Penn State Dickinson Law School. The school jumped up 13 spots from last year’s rankings, coming in at No. 51 in the nation. This makes Penn State’s law school the second best in Pennsylvania, behind only the University of Pennsylvania (No. 7). Temple (No. 61), Pitt (No. 81), Villanova (No. 93), Duquesne (No. 121), and Widener (NR), follow behind. With a split from Dickinson imminent and the new in-state scholarship program sure to bring in a more competitive 1L class, Penn State Law will look to jump into the top 50 next year.

Several different graduate schools also saw high rankings. The Smeal College of Business jumped 8 spots to No. 41; the College of Engineering came in at No. 25; and the College of Education came in at No. 33.
