Lion Ambassadors to Host Old Main Open House

Penn State’s most iconic building will be open for tours this Wednesday, April 9 from 2-6 p.m. thanks to Penn State’s Lion Ambassadors in connection with the Blue and White Society’s PSi(heart)U week.

The Lion Ambassadors will take a break from giving their normal campus tours to give tours of a much more specialized area, guiding groups around Old Main. The tours include a trip up to the Old Main Bell Tower for a one-of-a-kind view of downtown State College:

The festivities also include a pie eating contest at Old Main starting at 4 p.m., as well as live entertainment, and free food including Rita’s Water Ice, pizza, and kettle corn. The Lion Ambassadors are also running a raffle, giving gift cards out to lucky social media users who share pictures of themselves in front of Old Main or in the Bell Tower using the hashtag “#OldMainOpenHouse”. There will also be a picture taken on the Old Main lawn at 1:30, where students are encouraged to wear something representing their student organization.

Open houses in previous years have also included special guests like past presidents and other famous Penn Staters who have helped give some background of the building. No official guests have been announced, but who knows, on this 4/09, maybe the spirit of Joe Paterno will make an appearance with an Old Main history lesson or two.

He writes about stupid things nobody cares about, and student life if the site is low on content that is clearly supposed be funny but is really very unfunny. He is lovingly (?) known around the staff as Baby Mike which may or may not be because he has a child (hint: it’s not). He’s also a second generation Penn Stater who has been wearing Penn State sweatshirts since before he was two, a habit he hasn’t grown out of.
