THON Captain Applications Are Live

It may be the first day of classes, but THON is tomorrow! Now is the time for interested candidates to apply for the coveted captain positions for THON 2015. Captain applications are being accepted online and will close this Friday, August 29 at 5 p.m. Applications must be submitted both online and in person at 210 HUB.

Captains play a vital role in THON. They oversee committees that are the lifeblood of the world’s largest student-run philanthropy, and being a captain is a huge responsibility. If you’re the type of person who hasn’t stopped thinking about THON since last year’s reveal and are interested in taking on more responsibility for THON 2015, this could be the position for you. Here are some good tips from former Onward State writer and Family Relations captain Mara Kern on what to keep in mind when you apply. Make sure not to stress out! Put your heart into your application and take a deep breath after you turn in it.

In case you missed it, possible applicants should know that THON has already announced several big changes for its 2015 event. Longtime DJ Larry Moore will hand the turntables over to the Entertainment committee, the Morale committee was renamed the Dancer Relations Committee, and the biggest change of all will allot only three floor passes to each family for the Sunday of THON.

Mike Reisman

is a senior Supply Chain Management major with an Economics minor (Read: Business Douche) from South Jersey. He has an intense fear of graduating so please don't bring it up. He writes about stupid things nobody cares about, and student life if the site is low on content that is clearly supposed be funny but is really very unfunny. He is lovingly (?) known around the staff as Baby Mike which may or may not be because he has a child (hint: it’s not). He’s also a second generation Penn Stater who has been wearing Penn State sweatshirts since before he was two, a habit he hasn’t grown out of.
