Creamery Named One Of The 21 Best Ice Cream Shops In America

The Creamery has once again gained national recognition by being named number seven on Timeout New York’s list of the 21 best ice cream shops in America. As if people weren’t already aware of the delicious ice cream being produced in Happy Valley, Penn Staters’ beliefs can now be confirmed; their beloved ice cream is truly one of the best in the nation.

As the lone university-run ice cream shop gracing this list, The Creamery is head and shoulders above all other establishments of its kind. Take a look at what Timeout New York had to say about Penn State’s prized Creamery.

PSU’s beloved “cow-to-cone” operation, Berkey Creamery, has been milking its reputation for 150 years—literally. The university’s own dairy cattle do their part to ensure the ice cream couldn’t be fresher. Though the production facility doubles as a research lab, sheer wholesome quality trumps innovation here; still, the weekly changing selection of about 20 flavors does have its twists—think Apple Cobbler Crunch with pie pieces and a swirl of applesauce or the marshmallow-packed Coffee with Cream and Sugar.

The Creamery continues to churn out some of the best stuff in the world as it comes off its 150th anniversary, beating out reputable shops across the country. Whether you fancy classics like Peachy Paterno, or prefer savory new additions like Birthday Cake, this ranking indicates that whichever flavor you choose, you’ll be one satisfied customer.
