Parking Changes Announced For Football Home Opener

This Saturday Penn State football will kick off it’s long anticipated home opener against Buffalo at 12 p.m. in hopes of claiming the first win of the season after a devastating loss to Temple this past weekend. For those who intend to make the journey up to State College to support the Nittany Lions in their quest for a win, it is important to note some recently announced traffic and parking changes.

Two lots will be experiencing exit changes this season in order to improve traffic flow. Fans who park in Lot 12 or the Brown Lot will be directed to depart through a different exit than used in previous seasons. Those who park in Lot 12 will leave through the same gate they entered in on Park Avenue and be directed to turn right once exiting the lot. Those who park in the Brown Lot will be asked to leave through the southeast corner of the lot, in the direction to he farmhouse, and follow along the road until they reach Park Avenue and have the option to turn in either direction.

In addition to the lot changes there are several improvements to the ADA parking locations this season. Shuttle service will still be available before and after the game and run as long as there is a line present. Drop-off and pick-up locations will be at on the west side of Beaver Stadium near Gate B or on Porter Road near Gate A. Those with ADA season parking will be allowed to park on a first-come first-serve basis in the following lots: Nittany Lion Softball Park, Shields Building, and Wagner Building. Once these lots fill up, the overflow traffic will be directed to the Katz Building lot or the East Parking Deck. Fans who have single game parking or pre-paid ADA general passes will also be directed to the Katz lot or the East Parking Deck. The Katz lot will only have 225 ADA spaces available though, and those who wish to park there must enter from Park Avenue via Atherton. The East Parking Deck entrance can also be accessed from Park Avenue via Atherton Street.

ADA patrons who have an RV will be allowed to park in the RV lot along Orchard Road, which is on the shuttle route. Yellow RV pass holders who used to park in the Katz lot are now being asked to park in the same RV/Overnight RV lot off Orchard Road. For those unfamiliar with this lot, it can be accessed from Park Avenue via West I-99/U.S. 322 from the west.

Fans who have ADA Reserved parking will already have a reserved location based on number of points they have in the Nittany Lion Club its corresponding level.

Like previous seasons, the lots will still open at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. The team pep rally including the Blue Band, cheerleaders, and Lionettes will begin at 9 a.m along Curtain Road. The student gate will open at 10 a.m. as usual, along with the public gates opening at 10:30 a.m.
