I Spy: THON 2016 Edition

Spending 46 hours in the Bryce Jordan Center can get boring. Whether you’re a dancer, on a committee, or just a spectator in the stands, finding a way to pass time is crucial to your sanity. A great way to do that is to a play the classic game I Spy.

Lucky for us, THON 2016 has provided no shortage of entertaining and bizarre things to stare at. Let’s see how many of these you can spot. I bring you I Spy: THON 2016 edition.

 1. Monsters Inc. Balloon

I’m watching you Mike Wazowski. But literally…we are.

2. Giant Key

One THON organization is making DJ Kahled very proud. The giant key may be illusive to spot, but it does hold the key to success, so it’s worth the scouring.

3.  Live Like Tally Sign

The sisters of AXO have continued to honor Tally Sepot. Besides Tally Hour, the sisters also created a sign they are holding to represent her.

4.  Reveal Balloons

These may be tricky to find, but if you look high (hint) and low, you’ll be sure to spot them.

5. Movie Reference Themes

Movie references are an easy way for organizations work in clever themes. THON orgs have cleverly incorporated several different themes this year. Put those thinking caps on and decode the dancing letters.

6. Atlas Pink Hats

The pink hats are a staple of this THON org. Every year, without fail, the hats make their appearance and, considering the size of the organization, this should be a gimme.

7. The Nittany Lion

The Lion seems to take on the alter ego of Waldo during THON weekend. You hear he is around, but you never actually see him. The lion has a packed schedule during THON, so keep an eye out for him dashing around.

8. FatHead Posters

If you are a dancer or you know one, there’s a good chance there’ a giant cut out of their head floating around the BJC. Several organizations make these fatheads as a way to encourage their dancers during the long hours.

9.  Dancing Inflatable Objects

People love to take THON as the perfect opportunity to wave inflatable items in the air. It’s too early to be imagining things, so I know there are a pair of palm trees and bananas making their way around the BJC. See if you can spot them too.

10. Red Tank Tops

It seems like red is the new black this year at THON. Whether they’re lifeguard themed or the “46ers,” red tanks are all the rage this year.

Bonus: The Joe Paterno Statue
