What’s The Most Expensive THON Merch You Can Buy?

While clothing and apparel sales go on all year, both through THON and through different student orgs, coming to THON without any THON-ed out clothing is no problem. With a THON store set up across portal three servicing all your last minute merchandise needs, you can get most anything you want with a THON logo on it. Plus, all the proceeds go to the 2016 THON total, so why not support the cause and get some nice clothes at the same time. Of course, not every piece of apparel is equal, and the prices range from a few dollars to a small fortune, and it made us wonder, what are the most expensive things you can buy?

On the lower end of the spectrum, you can find things as cheap as $3, like keychains, magnets, and wristbands (hint: you can also get a free wristband outside portal 20). For $10 you can break into the actual clothing, with a pair of THON-branded yoga pants. Short sleeve and long sleeve logo t-shirts come in at $15 and $18 respectively and, according to the committee members working at the time, are some of the hottest selling items.

The upper-echelon of clothing comes in the form of quarterzips, hoodies, and zip-up sweatshirts at $40 a piece. But the most expensive thing at THON this year isn’t really an article of clothing at all, and is curiously left off of the normal list of merchandise at the THON store.

THON watch

The most expensive item at THON 2016 is this beautiful Citizen watch with the THON logo across the inside. The watch comes in at a somewhat strange price of $148.40, beating any other item by over $100. Though the price seems steep for THON, a quick Google search of Citizen watches will show that under $150 is actually quite a steal for watches of similar caliber. While purchases of the watch are rare, and since the actual number of watches sold is hard to figure out during THON due to the constant shifting of committee members, the committee members on staff at the time said that people do in fact buy the watches during THON. The watches certainly aren’t the top sellers, but every penny counts for the total, and each watch sale helps a heck of a lot.
