Meet The Group Waiting 18 Hours In Line For Pitt Tickets

In case you went home for the weekend or live under a rock, student tickets for the Pitt game this Saturday go on sale at 7 a.m. tomorrow at the BJC ticket office. It’s a tradition nearly as large as Nittanyville (well, not quite) for students to camp out in line for the most popular away game tickets, so seven Penn Staters decided to stake their claim outside the BJC at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

“Time has flown by,” senior Josh Simmons said. “We set up this TV about an hour after we got here. We had a tournament for NCAA football, we’ve done some homework, and we’ve played cornhole.”

Attempts from Simmons to interact with James Franklin via Twitter were unsuccessful:

The group even tried to solicit free food by tweeting at OrderUp, but to no avail. They picked up food on their trek to the BJC.

On top of the Penn State game Saturday, the group also hopes to go to the Pirates game against the Reds Friday night.

But what’s priority number one? “Beat Pitt, obviously,” senior Travis Eckman said. Group members predict scores all favoring a Penn State win — 28-24, 21-17, 31-28, and 28-23.

Simmons even predicts a Joey Julius block forcing a fumble to be returned for a touchdown.

This is no-doubt a challenging endeavor, but at least there are porta-potties stationed near the BJC.

UPDATE: Here’s the line at 6:53 pm.
