Federal Taphouse To Open A State College Location

Both the Fraser Centre and the local bar scene are continuing to grow. Owned by a pair of Penn State alumni, Corey Fogarty and Judd Goodman, Federal Taphouse will open its fourth location in Pennsylvania on June 19 and it will be located on the second floor of the Fraser Centre, connected to the new Hyatt Place Hotel.

The opening of Federal Taphouse is long awaited. On January of 2016, the restaurant was first reported to open that fall in the same location when construction on the Fraser Centre was officially completed. Now, albeit delayed, Federal Taphouse will be the latest business to use the multi-purpose skyscraper, which houses everything from a hotel to condos to a clothing store to now a restaurant.

Federal Taphouse will boast a wide variety of beer with 100 craft options on draft, which could challenge the newly opened Champ’s Downtown and other beer-enthusiasts’ favorites like Zeno’s and Liberty for the best selection of brews available. In addition to its vast assortment of beer, Federal Taphouse also features 10 wines on tap.

With locations already in Lancaster, Harrisburg, and Camp Hill, Federal Taphouse will be much more than a college bar. Its kitchen prides itself on farm-to-table cooking with fresh, local ingredients and produces a menu with an upscale take on pub fare. At its other locations, the restaurant chain also offers Sunday Brunch and various happy hour deals throughout the week such as $6 cheesesteaks and $2 beers on Mondays and $1 oysters and $2 off IPAs on Wednesdays.
