Tally Sepot Memorial Award Presented At THON 2018
Tally Sepot’s parents presented a memorial award in her honor on stage at THON 2018 Saturday morning. The award “exemplifies utmost enthusiasm for THON and Penn State” her mother explained.
“From the first time I took Tally to visit Penn State and she heard ‘We Are,’ Tally found a place that could match her spirit and enthusiasm,” Mrs. Sepot said.
Tally passed away in September 2015 returning from a canning trip when the car she was traveling in was involved in a one-vehicle accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the vehicle overturned.
“She did things her way — which wasn’t always my way — but it was one with style, enthusiasm, and love for life, that left an impression on everyone she’s met,” Mrs. Sepot said.
This year’s award recipient is senior Kate Trimble.
“Distracted driving is real!” Mrs. Sepot closed. “I ask that when you are in a car, in Tally’s name, when you turn on the car, shut off the phone.”
Of course she had to end the award presentation with a We Are chant in Tally’s memory. Live like Tally always.
