Candelore Customs: The Company Behind Jesse James’ THON Cleats

When the NFL first announced its “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign in 2016, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James knew exactly which charitable organization he wanted to represent.

The former Penn State star teamed up with Charlotte, N.C., artist Vincent Candelore of Candelore Customs, a company that specializes in shoe customization and logo design.

The pair made the natural decision to stick to a gold color scheme last season, paying homage to the fight against pediatric cancer with a gold ribbon and the THON 2017 slogan “Igniting Hope Within” emblazoned across the cleats.

James and Candelore convened again this past season to create another special tribute to THON. An active participant in the event during his time with the football team, James returned to State College Saturday afternoon to serve as a THON Pep Rally captain alongside fellow Nittany Lion and Super Bowl champion Stefen Wisniewski.

James, who hails from McKeesport, PA, hauled in 90 catches for 766 yards and seven touchdowns over his first three seasons in the league. With Ben Roethlisberger returning next season, James should again be a main contributor for Pittsburgh’s offense.

Candelore has also released t-shirts and sweatshirts bearing James’ signature celebration and For The Kids across the chest, with a portion of the sales benefiting THON.

We’ll see what the two dream up for next season’s “My Cause, My Cleats” weekend. Right now, though, it’s safe to say James is focused on enjoying THON 2018 to the fullest and “Discovering Tomorrow’s Wonder.”
