Annual Winter THAW 5k Set For Saturday

THON weekend is over, which means State Patty’s Day is just around the corner.

If you prefer not drinking copious amounts of green beer on someone’s porch or in someone’s backyard, then you can look forward to Club Cross Country’s annual Winter Thaw 5k Run on campus. The run offers an alternative event to the boozed-up haven that State College typically transforms into.

Club Cross Country will host the 5k on Saturday, February 24. All are welcome to participate in the run, which begins at 10 a.m. at the IST Westgate Building.

Registration for the event will be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. through Friday, February 23 in the HUB, as well as the day of the event from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Pre-registration through Friday is $10, and registration on the morning of the event is $12. Everyone who registers will receive a drawstring bag stuffed with race day goodies.

Prizes will be given out to runners who place in the top ten, including a month’s supply of KIND bars for the first place male and female finisher and Rapid Transit gift cards for those who place in the top five.

You can find more information and the registration form for the run here.
