Hagenman, who recently wrapped up his junior season for the Nittany Lions, is the sixth player drafted under head coach Rob Cooper. Last year, fellow right-handed pitcher Sal Biasi was selected in the 11th round (No. 330 overall) by the Kansas City Royals.
In 14 starts this season, Hagenman posted a 4.60 ERA and a 3-7 record as Penn State struggled to a last-place showing in the Big Ten. He tallied 190 strikeouts his first three years on campus.
Hagenman earned Big Ten All-Freshman recognition in 2016 after leading the team in starts and wins, while also being named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team.
It’s currently unknown whether Hagenman, an economics major from Voorhees, NJ, will return for his senior season or elect to begin his pro career in the Dodgers’ minor league system this summer.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Hagenman played his high school baseball for Bishop Eustace in Pennsauken Township, NJ. You can check out the rest of the Dodgers’ draft picks right here.
