Homecoming Restructures Ahead Of 2019 Executive Committee Applications

As Homecoming continues to “Guide State Forward,” the organization announced changes to its internal structure for the group that will put on Homecoming 2019. Homecoming will merge or phase out three committees and add one committee for a grand total of fourteen.

“With this year’s focus on helping to ‘Guide State Forward,’ Homecoming was able to make substantial changes to create a more inclusive and sustainable organization as well as engage with the community at our first downtown event,” Homecoming 2018 Executive Director Ally Berdan said in a press release. “These external changes prompted our organization to look internally, to ensure that our operations were best aligned with our goals for the future.”

The organization will phase out its security committee, transferring these responsibilities to OPP and parade leaders for events throughout Homecoming’s weeklong celebration and the rest of the year.

Donor relations and finance will combine to form the financial management committee, responsible for all Homecoming cash flows from the university, donations, and fundraisers.

The responsibilities of the former production committee will now fall mostly under the organization’s public relations committee, with emcee responsibilities transferred to the new talent relations committee and the parade webcast transferred to the university relations committee.

Finally, Homecoming has established a talent relations committee, which will be responsible for all Homecoming performances, producing the Homecoming Dance Competition and For The Glory Talent Show, and recruiting and coordinating Homecoming’s two emcees.
