Police Seeking Assistance Following Reports Of Unknown Males Harassing Females On And Off Campus

Update October 2: Penn State Police announced an update Wednesday to its advisory from earlier in the week seeking assistance with an investigation into reported harassing. According to the release, investigators don’t have any verified reports of attempted abductions or assaults as described in recent social media posts.

During the investigation, they’ve confirmed one incident of harassment and several other reported incidents that were non-criminal in nature. The instances don’t appear to be related. Many reports came after the initial advisory released earlier this week, perhaps out of extra precaution.

Original story: Penn State Police and State College Police are investigating several third-party reports of unknown males harassing females, the university police announced Monday.

The reports of harassment involve males grabbing females by the arms while trying to speak with them. The location of the reports have taken place both on and off campus during the last seven days.

Anyone who has witnessed or been a victim of such activity is asked to contact the University Police at 814-863-1111 or State College Police at 814-234-7150.

The community is also reminded to report any suspicious or criminal activity by calling 911. Anyone is encouraged to call an employee of the University Police and Public Safety from dusk to dawn to avoid walking alone. You will be escorted by the employee to your on-campus destination.
