Former Penn State Quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. Transfers To FAU

After several months in the transfer portal, former Penn State football quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. will transfer to Florida Atlantic University.

The Oregon native announced his decision via Twitter Wednesday night.

Johnson entered the portal back in June. Entering his sophomore season this past spring, Johnson was slotted as a fourth-string quarterback behind fellow class member Ta’Quan Roberson.

Coming out of Oregon, the quarterback committed to Penn State’s class of 2019 as a four-star prospect and the No. 15 dual-threat quarterback in the nation. Johnson received 29 total offers from programs around the nation during his recruitment.

Johnson redshirted during his 2019 season in Happy Valley and didn’t play a snap. Penn State’s quarterback room will remain crowded even with Johnson gone, as Micah Bowens sits behind Roberson while Christian Veilleux will join the Nittany Lions next semester.

Johnson now joins an FAU squad that currently holds a 5-3 record this season and averages 328.9 yards per game.
