James Franklin Surprises Philly Sports Superfan Giovanni Hamilton With Penn State Gear
If you’ve been around Philadelphia sports Twitter, you probably know about Giovanni Hamilton. The 13-year-old Eagles superfan has gone viral multiple times for his love of Carson Wentz, heartfelt message for Dak Prescott, and more.
Well, it looks like he might be Penn State football’s newest fan, too.
Hamilton posted a video on Twitter Monday thanking James Franklin and the Nittany Lions for sending over a box of Penn State gear, including an autographed picture from the big man himself.
“This means a lot because I wanna be a coach someday, and I really idolize him,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton has a rare condition called Schwartz-Jampel syndrome, which causes muscle weakness and bone dysplasia. He’s documented his lengthy treatment process on his Twitter page, which has amassed more than 20,000 followers.
Hamilton’s used his newfound Twitter fame to start a podcast on Eagles Brawl and wants to be a football coach one day. His infectious enthusiasm singlehandedly makes Philly sports Twitter a better place.
This isn’t the first time Franklin’s sent a surprise gift, either. He notably sent one to Joe Moorehead before the 2018 season and reporter Clay Travis after spotting him with a Michigan State shirt in 2015. Franklin even gave a random Penn State student a Nittany Lion vest to cover up a Spartan undershirt in 2019.
