Staff Picks: Best Places To Nap On Campus
It’s no secret that college can cost students valuable hours of sleep, whether it be from staying out too late with friends or staying up studying for an upcoming exam. As such, naps are a college student’s best friend.
Our staffers have spent many extra hours getting their beauty sleep, so we compiled our favorite, go-to spots to nap around campus.
Acacia Aster Broder: Harry Potter Room
The best place to nap on campus, hands down, is in the Harry Potter room in the library. The big chairs aren’t ideal for studying but are definitely the best for napping. They are super worn down, and you can just sink into them.
The room is always quiet, and the lighting isn’t super harsh, especially in the late afternoon. Whenever I go there to get work done, I always see at least one person napping. Overall, 10/10 nap spot.
Renata Daou: Empty Classrooms
Empty classrooms are a great place to take a quick nap. They can be used as study spaces and have limited capacity, which means that the possibility of someone walking in and interrupting your sleep is very low. They offer you the perfect balance of a quiet space to focus on your schoolwork and catch up on a few hours of sleep.
Sarah Sacker: Third Floor Of The Library
In the bookshelves of the third-floor library, there is such a comfy chair with a nice footrest and charger right next to it. Literally the perfect place ever.
Colleen Nersten: HUB Lawn
I am a firm believer that taking a cat nap on the HUB lawn will cure any cold. When the temperature is warm, you’re exposed to direct sunlight, a slight breeze, and calming background noise of students studying and hanging out. It’s the best. Because there are plenty of students around, it’s safer than other places on campus that are more secluded.
Shannon Darcy: Pollock Commons
My favorite place to take a nap (as weird as it sounds) are those big chairs in Pollock Commons, but in the back corner so no one can see me napping.
Charles Reinert: My Apartment
The recent semester has been extremely busy, so naturally, I’ve found myself napping much more. When I need a solid recharge, nothing beats the couch in my apartment. When I attended Penn State Abington, I took a few naps in the couches in the library and the occasional nap in the lobby of the Woodland Building. Nowadays, I find myself in my apartment building a lot. Plus, it gives me privacy while I nap, and that’s always a big plus.
