Registration Open For Virtual 2021 Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run

It’s that time of year to lace up those running shoes, folks!

Registration is now open for the 12th annual Paterno Family Beaver Stadium Run, which will take place between Sunday, April 18, and Sunday, May 9. The event will feature both a virtual 5K run and a 2-mile walk.

Participants can register for the virtual event here. A $45 fee is associated with the event, which includes a commemorative medal.

A new “Virtual Fun” component was added this year. It allows participants to choose their favorite exercise or activity to engage in for 30 minutes to meet requirements.

A virtual celebration will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 18, via a Facebook livestream. It will feature runners and celebrity guests including Sue Paterno and Hall of Fame Steelers running back Franco Harris.

The race will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania and nearly 16,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

In a typical year, the Beaver Stadium Run is hosted on Blue-White Weekend with more than 3,500 runners in attendance. The usual course includes a scenic run through Penn State’s campus, ending on the 50-yard line of Beaver Stadium. 2020 welcomed the first virtual run, which raised more than $350,000.
