[Live Blog] Penn State Football’s 2021 Blue-White Practice

Penn State football is back in Beaver Stadium, folks.

The Nittany Lions are enjoying a revised edition of the annual Blue-White Game Saturday afternoon. While it will be more of a practice than anything else, Penn State will still invite the Class of 2024 into the stadium to watch some football as students in-person for the first time.

2:42 p.m. — Practice has wrapped up, and it’s now time for the Alma Mater.

2:41 p.m. — Pure electricity, folks!

2:32 p.m. —

2:26 p.m. — The man with the best name in college football is on the board today!

2:21 p.m. — Pat Freiermuth and NFL Hall of Famer Jack Ham are down on the field for today’s practice.

2:19 p.m. — Roberson just ran it in from nine yards out for his second touchdown of the day.

2:16 p.m. — What an impressive day for the true freshman!

2:07 p.m. — First touchdown of the day for Veilleux! The Canadian finds a wide-open Caziah Holmes for a short touchdown.

2:04 p.m. — Wearing a “Punters are people too” shirt, a mullet-less Blake Gillikin is watching today’s practice.

2:02 p.m. — On 4th and 2, Devyn Ford is stuffed in the backfield by the defense.

1:58 p.m. — Fans. Are. Back.

1:56 p.m. — Another touchdown, baby! This time it’s Clifford connecting with Brenton Strange for a 45-yard score.

1:51 p.m. — Throw it on a dime! Not Trace McSorley, but Ta’Quan Roberson! He connects with Daniel George for a 21-yard touchdown.

1:46 p.m. — Ta’Quan Roberson is finding his groove. After starting at their own one-yard line, Roberson and the offense are down inside the opposing 30-yard line.

1:45 p.m. — That Devyn Ford touchdown from before? Electric.

1:43 p.m. — Marcus Allen and Miles Sanders are also here, folks! There’s definitely no shortage of former Penn State football stars here in attendance.

1:39 p.m. — Clifford fires a strike to KeAndre Lambert-Smith for a first down to move the offense to the 14-yard line.

1:38 p.m. — Clifford and the first-team offense start the series from their own one-yard line.

1:36 p.m. — Holy smokes! Devyn Ford just returned a kickoff to the house for a touchdown.

1:34 p.m. — Here’s a look at King’s touchdown from earlier in practice.

1:32 p.m. — True freshman quarterback Christian Veilleux has checked in for his first snaps of the day.

1:31 p.m. — Yetur Gross-Matos is in attendance and just led a “We Are” chant.

1:29 p.m. — Some nice coverage by transfer cornerback Johnny Dixon forces another field goal attempt. This time it’s Jordan Stout, as he converts a 42-yard attempt.

1:27 p.m. — Keyvone Lee just broke off a nice-looking run for about 10 yards.

1:25 p.m. —

1:24 p.m. — *SEAN CLIFFORD JUST TOOK A SNAP UNDER CENTER*

1:23 p.m. — Clifford and the first-team offense are back out on the field with a fast-moving pace.

1:21 p.m. — KJ Hamler is in the house for today’s practice!

1:19 p.m. — King, an early enrollee, is certainly making a name for himself early on in his Nittany Lion career.

1:17 p.m. — Kalen King just intercepted Ta’Quan Roberson’s pass and returned it for a touchdown.

1:13 p.m. — The defense holds firm and forces a Jake Pinegar 28-yard field goal.

1:11 p.m. — Clifford connects with Cam Sullivan-Brown on the very next play for a long completion to set up the offense inside the 10-yard line.

1:09 p.m. — On third down, Clifford went deep to Parker Washington, but the pass is underthrown. However, a pass interference call gives Clifford and Co. a first down.

1:08 p.m. — Sean Clifford and the offense starts off with a Devyn Ford run followed up by a penalty.

1:06 p.m. — Practice is now underway!

1:01 p.m. — ARE. YOU. READY. FOR. PENN. STATE. FOOTBALL?!?!

1:00 p.m. — Director of the Blue Band, Gregory Drane, is teaching the crowd the “Let’s Go State” chant and dance.

12:56 p.m. — CEO of the Penn State Alumni Association Paul Clifford is of course here!

12:52 p.m. —

12:51 p.m. — Lady Lions head coach Carolyn Kieger is in attendance and firing up the crowd!

12:49 p.m. —

12:44 p.m. — The Nittany Lion and the Blue Band are taking the first-year crowd through pre-practice festivities.

12:41 p.m. — DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win” is firing up the crowd prior to practice.

12:39 p.m. — James Franklin just took the microphone and thanked all the first-year students for coming to watch practice today.

12:38 p.m. — It didn’t happen if you don’t post it on Instagram!

12:34 p.m. — New Penn State hoops head coach Micah Shrewsberry currently leading a “We Are” chant on the stadium jumbotron.

12:23 p.m. — That’s right, fans are currently in Beaver Stadium to watch Penn State football for the first time in well over a year.

12:20 p.m. — Gate A is starting to fill up, folks!
