College GameDay personality and closet Penn State fan Kirk Herbstreit hosted his annual “Herbies” award show Thursday night to highlight his favorite players, teams, and places within college football.

Unsurprisingly, Herbstreit didn’t shy away from sending some love Penn State’s way. In fact, he once again doubled down on his never-ending love for Beaver Stadium’s White Out by presenting it with its own shiny Herbie Award.

This is far from the White Out’s first Herbie Award. In fact, Herbstreit officially recognized it both in 2018 and 2019, further cementing him as a closet Penn State fan.

Over the year, Herbstreit’s gone on record and said the White Out presents the best atmosphere in all of college football. The rest of his College GameDay crew has regularly echoed that sentiment, too.

Last fall, when the prospects of a Big Ten football season looked grim at best, Herbstreit got pretty emotional about missing a White Out. When College GameDay did visit Penn State last October, Herbstreit said it was tough adjusting to a college football season without a proper White Out.

“I love that stadium. I love that student section…it’s my favorite — it’s one of my favorite games I do all year, including national championships and the Rose Bowl,” he said last fall. “I do all these big games, but there’s something I always remember every year about the White Out.”

Lucky for Herbie, Penn State’s White Out will be back in full force this fall. The Nittany Lions are set to host a full-stadium White Out against Auburn on September 18, plus a student section White Out against Michigan on November 13.

Penn State will bring the White Out, but will College GameDay bring the show back to Happy Valley? Only time will tell.
