Gameday Coverage: No. 4 Penn State vs. Indiana

Well well well, if it isn’t the Hoosiers again.

Indiana football (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) is back in town to take on No. 4 Penn State football (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) in a primetime showdown. The undefeated Nittany Lions need a win Saturday to remain in the conversation for the Big Ten title, while the Hoosiers are trying to stay afloat after two losses to ranked opponents.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the matchup.

Television

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ABC. Sean McDonough and analyst Todd Blackledge will be on the call and Molly McGrath will provide additional sideline reporting.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM/1450 AM, Sirius/XM/Internet: 84/80/958

Weather

Accuweather predicts temperatures to be in the low 60s by kickoff, but it’ll get up to 74 during peak tailgating hours. It could get down into the mid-50s as the game progresses, so long sleeves or a hoodie could be a good idea.

Wind will stay mild during the affair with gusts reaching only as high as 7mph from the south/southwest direction. Expect a 49-degree dew point and 58% humidity at game time.

Last Meeting

Let’s just say we all remember what happened last time around. Indiana walked Penn State off on a controversial overtime call, essentially derailing the Nittany Lions’ 2020 season. Sean Clifford threw for 238 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the 36-35 loss.

Penn State holds a 22-2 all-time record against Indiana. Both of the Hoosiers’ wins have come in the past 10 years.

Injuries/Suspensions

Since Penn State typically only reports season-ending injuries, we only know that defensive linemen Adisa Isaac and Hakeem Beamon will miss Saturday’s matchup. Isaac sustained an injury over the offseason and likely won’t be healthy during the 2021 season, while James Franklin said Wednesday that Beamon will be unavailable all year.

Regarding the coronavirus, we won’t know until kickoff if anyone has tested positive.

Betting Lines

Penn State is a 12.5-point favorite in this matchup and the over/under is set at 53.5. Last week was the first time the Nittany Lions didn’t cover, while Indiana is 1-3 against the spread. The over hit last week.
