Penn State Snags No. 4 Seed In NCAA Field Hockey Tournament

Penn State field hockey (14-5, 6-2) has earned the No. 4 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Field Hockey Tournament. The Nittany Lions will face Syracuse in the first round of the tournament at noon on Friday, November 12.

Penn State comes into the NCAA tournament following a 2-1 semifinals loss to Rutgers in last week’s Big Ten Tournament. Penn State also enters the tournament with Sophia Gladieux, who was named a first-team All-Big Ten selection and a member of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament All-American Team. Germany native Anna Simon was also named on the 2021 Big Ten Tournament All-American Team.

“We are excited to be a part of this championship tournament,” head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss told Penn State Athletics. “We feel very good about where the season we’ve had to date, and it has put us in a position to be playing for a national championship. I’m so proud of this team and how these girls have grown and improved each week. The strength of the Big Ten conference has prepared us for the competition ahead and we are excited about our matchup with Syracuse.”

Now that Penn State has punched its ticket, the Nittany Lions will prepare for their 33rd all-time tournament appearance. You can view the full NCAA Tournament bracket here.
