More than 600 dancers are back in the BJC for the first in-person THON since 2020. For updates, photos, videos, and more of the entire weekend, stick with this live blog throughout.

2:08 p.m. — Lots of emotion in the BJC right now. We will never forget our angels.

2:02 p.m. — Next up is the annual “Celebration Of Life” video which will honor the lives of Four Diamonds children who lost their battles with cancer.

2:00 p.m. — We Are FTK! Thank you, Ed.

1:58 p.m. — “We stand in THON and pray for the angels and their families to give them peace,” Schneider said. “We pray for the families and children fighting the fight. We pray that no child will ever die again from cancer.”

1:56 p.m. — Mack Madness benefitting THON raised over $27,000 in its first year.

1:55 p.m. — We spoke to Mack’s cousin, Payton, who is dancing in THON 2022 in her memory.

1:54 p.m. — Ed’s daughter, Bria, danced in 2020 in honor of McKenzie. This was the first year Ed was able to bring himself to THON.

1:52 p.m. — Ed tells the BJC about “Mack Madness,” a nonprofit that has raised over $340,000 for the National Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, York Area Down Syndrome Association, and The Ronald McDonald House, among other charities.

1:50 p.m. — Ed Schneider shares the story of his angel “Big Mack,” “Little Mack,” “Mack & Cheese,” and “Sugar Sugar” because she’s so sweet.

1:49 p.m. — The next Four Diamonds family, the McKenzie Schneider family, takes the mic.

1:48 p.m. — Dusquene graduate Joey Setlock is 16 years post-treatment and a nurse at Lancaster General Hospital.

1:47 p.m. — Lauren Schildt Libhart has been off of treatment for 21 years. She has a fourth month old daughter and is expecting a son in May. Congratulations, Lauren!

1:45 p.m. –Landon Knepp is officially cancer free as of last year! His favorite THON memory was when Mike Gesicki surprised him while hosting the talent show.

1:43 p.m. — Kindergartener Harrison Fischman is four years post-treatment and encourages everyone to “live in the moment and follow your heart.”

1:41 p.m. — Kaitlyn Good has been off of treatment for 26 years and is representing Pennsylvania in the Special Olympics USA games in June. We are so proud of you!

1:39 p.m. — Eleven year old Jay Dawson has been off of treatment for 10 years! He is excited to be a Penn State student one day!

1:37 p.m. — A’Niah Butler is 11 years old and five years post-treatment. She wants to be the first female football player for Penn State.

1:35 p.m. — We’re so happy to have Hannah Reed in attendance at her first THON this weekend!

1:34 p.m. — Logan McCarthy is eight years old and six years post-treatment. He’s a Jojo Siwa stan!

1:33 p.m. — Connor Rowan is in 5th grade and loves tennis, basketball, chorus, and art. He has been off of treatment for six years!

1:32 p.m. — Justin Kaufmann is 38 years old and 27 years cancer free!

1:30 p.m. — Julia O’Toole is 12 years old and has been off treatment for almost two years. She loves to dance, take aerial classes, and make crafts.

1:29 p.m. — Next up is the “Where Are You Now?” video.

1:28 p.m. — Thank you, Schneiders.

1:25 p.m. — Grace is living a normal life these days and has a wonderful relationship with her brother Brooks. They love to dance, play school and restaurant, and have their tablet time.

1:24 p.m. — Additionally, Schneider explains the importance of research on genetic abnormalities, as Grace’s was just discovered in 2003.

1:22 p.m. — Schneider expresses her gratitude for the impact Four Diamonds has had on her and Grace’s life.

10:33 a.m. — Not much happening right now. Just vibes.

10:22 a.m. — Gunnar and Bri killed it on stage, and then the Schultz’s took the stage to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Julia O’Toole, A’Niah Butler, and Harper and Shiloh Crimmel rounded out the kid’s talent show. Awesome job, everyone!

10:20 a.m. — Twins Kimberley and Allison Bender showed up in full cowgirl attire. Lily Le Crone has aspirations have becoming a Penn State cheerleader, and she showcased a nice move on stage. We think she has a bright future.

10:18 a.m. — Charlize Curry, who is dressed a duck, said THON is better than Christmas. We’re not arguing!

10:17 a.m. — Kendall Gehman, Mina Horan, and Melaina Horan all impressed the crowd!

10:15 a.m. — Celia and Adeline Cosentino joined in on the square dance fun. These kids know how to bust a move! The duo was followed by Jaxon and Riley, who have course look great.

10:13 a.m. — Sean Grindle is the man! Joining the crowd via the video board, he galloped in on his horse. He was followed by Maddie and Whitney Gehman, who were rocking hats that *nearly* matched! Then, Marissa Smerick came out wearing a cow-print onesie. Talk about flare!

10:12 a.m. — Aly and Cara Palocios joined in on the fun with a video, while Caleb Zanolini showed out on stage!

10:11 a.m. — Caroline Edwards, Kennedy Wilson, and Eliana Rodenhauser all shined in front of the BJC crowd, folks.

10:10 a.m. — Carly is joined on stage with two captains. Lookin’ good!

10:08 a.m. — Audrey and Ellis Evans show off their pizzazz via the video board with a square dance. That’s awesome.

10:06 a.m. — Time for the kid’s talent show — Cowboy edition! Devon Pulaski takes the stage first with a slick hat!

9:55 a.m. — All boys line dance to the stage!

9:46 a.m. — Mopping is complete, by the way.

9:42 a.m. — Spectators are currently passing around cardboard cutouts of sandwich ingredients to try to complete a full sandwich.

8:29 a.m. — THON 2022’s executive director, Kate Colgan, just gifted President Barron and his wife Molly, a collage of THON logo’s from his time at Penn State.

8:27 a.m. — The THON 2021 executive committee is being recognized on the stage.

8:20 a.m. — “The Story of THON” has caught the attention of the crowd on the BJC video boards.

11:31 p.m. — Penn State JaDhoom, a bollywood fusion dance team, is electric on stage right now as “Panda” blasts over the speakers.

11:28 p.m. — The Coda Conduct takes the stage with some acapella. First is “Elastic Hearts” by Sia.

3:08 a.m. — Urban Dance Troupe brought some excitement. Next up is the a cappella group “None Above.”

3:03 a.m. — Oh wow, they’re really good!

3:01 a.m. — Taking the stage now is the Urban Dance Troupe. Let’s see what they’ve got.

3:00 a.m. — Look at this gritty lad!

2:58 a.m. — Aaaaand goodbye Penn State Music Service Club. The group had some technical difficulties during their one-song performance, which doesn’t really seem fair.

2:53 a.m. — Here comes the Penn State Music Service Club!

2:39 a.m. — DANCER RELATIONS CAPTAINS!

2:35 a.m. — Honestly not too sure what’s going on right now. Just a lot of high-pitched singing.

2:32 a.m. — DJ Dosk brought some energy to the BJC late into the night.

2:31 a.m. — If you’re looking for a place to charge your phone, you have a few options.

2:30 a.m. — Slides of strength time!

2:24 a.m. — Jeopardy has concluded. Absolutely riveting

2:22 a.m. — That’s right

2:19 a.m. — They know they’re stuff, folks. There’s only been one wrong answer, and we’re almost 10 questions in.

2:15 a.m. — The four categories are Four Diamonds, THON History, General THON Knowledge, and Penn State Trivia. Wow.

2:14 a.m. — Time for the THON Game Show Jeopardy FINALE!

2:05 a.m. — HELLO, DANCER RELATIONS CAPTAINS!

2:01 a.m. — After a few more songs, including Olivia Rodrigo’s “good 4 u”, it appears DJ Dosk is done. What a performance, man.

1:50 a.m. — DJ Dosk gets a nice “We Are” chant going right before blasting “Day ‘n’ Nite.”

1:50 a.m. — It’s not “All Too Well 10 Minute Version,” but “Love Story” will do for now

1:47 a.m. — At night, I think of ~youuuuuuuu~

1:43 a.m. — Anyways, here’s “Wonderwall.”

1:38 a.m. — MORE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!

1:34 a.m. — If you’re about to head into your graveyard shift, you might need these tips on how to maintain some self-care.

1:27 a.m. — It feels like Champs on a Saturday night up in here.

1:21 a.m. — DJ Dosk is ready to bring some beats to the BJC.

1:12 a.m. — OMG her microphone doesn’t work.

1:11 a.m. — Dancer. Relations. captains.

1:10 a.m. — Club volleyball ball takes home the trivia win!

1:06 a.m. — This trivia game looks a lot like Wordle.

1:03 a.m. — The duo closes out with “I’m a Believer” and we’re all certainly believing in these dancers right now.

1:00 a.m. — Some High School Musical jams are making me emotional.

12:54 a.m. — What’s new, Scooby-Doo?

12:50 a.m. — After some technical difficulties, the two-man band called Park Hill steps up with the song “I Found A Way.”

12:38 a.m. — An Irish stepdance group, Rince na Leon, takes the stage with a performance to “September.”

12:30 a.m. — First time Dancer Relations captains are called to the stage today!

12:27 a.m. — Mmmmmm meal time. Tonight’s menu is assorted subs.

12:21 a.m. — TikTok complete. Record broken?

12:18 a.m. — Oh! The Nittany Lion is sturdy with it!

12:17 a.m. — The people are booing Katie for messing up.

12:14 a.m. — Katie would like to break the record for most people attempting a TikTok at once. She’s currently teaching us the dance.

12:13 a.m. — Katie Feeney makes her way to the stage. Get ready for some TikToks!

12:10 a.m. — Flooring Co. is producing some head-banging music to keep us all awake after a long day of THONing. Whatever keeps us from shutting our eyes.

12:07 a.m. — The Nittany Lion is sturdy with it.

12:00 a.m. — Well, it’s officially Saturday folks! You know what that means…

Friday, February 18

11:51 p.m. — Here comes “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World. Electric atmosphere here in the BJC.

11:46 p.m. — Flooring Co. takes the stage.

11:42 p.m. — Starting to think that THON should place cocktagons throughout the concourse of the BJC. It would really make bathroom breaks much more efficient.

11:21 p.m. — Update: the shirt is unfortunately not cow print, but it’s still really cool.

11:15 p.m. — Really vibing with the cow print shirt Moonroof’s guitarist is wearing right now.

11:09 p.m. — Moonroof kicked off Battle of the Bands with a song of their own and then moved on to groove with some Tame Impala.

11:01 p.m. — Sources were correct. It’s time for Battle of the Bands!

10:56 p.m. — Battle of the Bands may be coming up, per sources. (Source: the BJC video board that was probably not supposed to be showing a desktop.)

10:51 p.m. — Wake up, babe. New Wordle just dropped!

10:43 p.m. — Drink! That! Water!

10:35 p.m. — Well, that was quick. Dancer Relations captains head back to the stage!

10:30 p.m. — It’s time for the Superhero Stretch!

10:23 p.m. – E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles or Steelers? Close one.

10:22 p.m. — Penn State is, apparently, a Wawa school.

10:19 p.m. — It’s time to get groovy, folks.

10:09 p.m. — Dancer Relations captains to the stage!

9:55 p.m. — That’ll do it for Cutler’s THON 2022 performance.

9:51 p.m. — In a wild move, Cutler’s drummer almost just faceplanted while hopping over his drumset, but he’s okay.

9:48 p.m. — THE BJC IS COMING OUT OF ITS CAGE. Cutler closes out with an electric performance of “Mr. Brightside.”

9:46 p.m. — “You might feel like this is normal…but from an outside perspective, I’ve never seen anything like this.” Chelsea gets emo before she closes her performance with one more song.

9:41 p.m. — The blue bracelets look awesome in the BJC.

9:33 p.m. — The vibes are through the roof, as Cutler starts an electric “We Are” chant. Absolute chills.

9:31 p.m. — The flashlights are out at the BJC, as Cutler performs her and Quinn XCII’s “Stay Next To Me.”

9:25 p.m. — “This is really special, for real.” Chelsea Cutler is showing her love for THON.

9:18 p.m. — Chelsea takes the BJC along the slow vibe with “Crazier Things.”

9:12 p.m. — The BJC really has all the vibes, man.

7:31 p.m. — Penn State’s only all-female a capella group, Savoir Faire, just brought the house down with an awesome performance. They’ve now welcomed several kids to the stage for their performance of “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana.

7:27 p.m. — Timothy Piazza is once again being honored at this year’s THON Weekend.

7:25 p.m. — HAKUNA MATATA!

7:22 p.m. — This is fantastic.

7:18 p.m. — Kids Mail Call is rolling along with some classic Disney songs, including “Under The Sea.” Meanwhile, check out our video of the line dance if you need a quick refresher on this year’s moves.
